Capturing the architectures, technology and environments of anime. This blog hosts the screenshots taken while watching anime at night.

Instead of focusing on characters, plot or events like other anime blogs, the shots capture the larger environment both in time and space. The special places that define a feeling which represents its world. Claustrophobic rat-infested tunnels, weird portal-mechanisms… all the beauties and horrors of alternate existences.

The detailed designs, the massive structures, the engineering feats of each anime’s world. The intense sunrises and glorious sunsets. Strange chimneys and industrial buildings next to massive skyscrapers of bizarre design. These shots are full of the big empty: the abandoned places and spaces where time tells its strange tales of forgotten histories.

Shots of Mother Nature’s beauty also abound in Animescenes. Verdant fields and snowy peaks compete with strange deserts filled with the tortured remnants of a collapsed civilization.

Explore with me as we travel the tiled squares, sheer cliffs, blue oceans, lonely islands and mega-cities of anime in moments of frozen time.

Excellent blog! I love anime environments and this website has helped me a lot for my research! Although, some of my favorite anime’s scenes are missing: Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion and some more material from Ghost in the Shell (movie).
